I have a Zodiac Series 1, Model S131 that needs the floor reglued from about the midpoint forward. This thing has been in the rafters above the garage since about 1995, but seems quite salvageable. My question is, would I be better off just selling the thing for parts, etc on ebay (it has the complete aluminum/plywood floor kit, billow, and inflatable keel) or fixing it? Is it worth doing either?!?!

Appears to be a '91 ("C191" in the Month Year Model box)

Junk it. Anytime one of these things is over 5 or 6 years old we recommend to throw them in a dumster.

That's unfortunate. :(

Is any of it worth selling?

I'd think at least the floor might be worth something, etc.? No, not so much?!?

Not really. The floors are usually thrown away with the boats. You have to keep in mind that the S131 is equilivant of a "first wife". The more you are with them the more toxic they become until the day you dump them and move on:)

You'll have to let me know your secret for finding a second wife who wasn't just like the first! LOL!

Thanks for the input!

Your zodiac isn't necessarily trash. To begin with you should pull on the floor seam and see if the still bonded sections hold. My Zodiac Futura floor was coming apart a little and I opened up all of the seam that would come apart without damaging the tube fabric. If lots of seams are weak you may not want to take on the project and Tohatsu guru may be correct that it isn't worth your time. Most of my floor, the transom and some speed tube casing needed to be reglued. It has been over four years and it hasn't come apart again. If the tubes themselves have failing seams I would not repair the boat. But short of that it is mostly an expenditure of time.

Here are some instructions on gluing PVC. If it sounds too complicated or you aren't willing to prep properly, buy a good two part glue and control the humidity then repairs are not for you.

If you have the time and inclination then search for posts on repairs and learn a little about how people are repairing their boats. Here are links to two threads that I have participated in. Skip through and you will find lots of info on glues, prep and repairs. There are lots of other posts on the forum like these.

A new boat wasn't going to happen for me. My repaired boat runs out through overhead waves and hasn't been a problem. I spent a lot of time getting my boat squared away, but it was worth it for me.
