How do you feel about using tiller extension handles on inflatables?

So how does everyone feel about using tiller extension handles with inflatables? I like being able to have the weight up further for planing purposes, but it also made me realize that I'm further away from the motor if I ever had something happen. Has anyone ever had a problem while using them?

I wish I had a tiller extension when I was a kid. It would have been convenient as heck. Although, I have no tiller motors (at the moment), I would not have a problem using one. If it makes sense for you on an inflatable, go for it.

If you get the heavy duty one like the one deejaycee2000 use it will give you more leverage at high speed and you would sit forward a bit however the ones you can buy here are not the same they are longer and just clamp to the Teller Handel and that allow you to set more forward what size outboard and boat you are going to use?I did not use one but I want to make one for my Tohatsu 25HP:)

While a tiller handle extension may make usage a little more convenient, keep in mind that it's use requires a more exaggerated movement of the tiller in a turn thereby making it a little more dangerous.

I got mine specially made, we have to use heavy duty stuff as we put it under extreme torture ...

I had a redneck tiller extension (pvc pipe) on my previous 5hp for an inflatable. That is true, steering is alot more sensitive. However, the comfort and better placement for planing makes it totally worth it.

I have worst than redneck tiller extension. I used a heavy duty hose as an extension. Eventhogh its pretty hard, it stll has some give to it. I recently upgraded the plastic light clamp that was holding it in place, to an actual adjustable metal one. It is great at low speeds but I wouldent trust it over 10mph.
