Ok I need to remove my boat from my single axle bunk trailer so an axle/frame shop can look at it. There are no slips available nearby, except the "seagull" slips. I have to go look at them and maybe use my old universal cover, and secure it somehow. If I jack the hull are there certain spots to put the jack & stands ?? Has anyone done this? I did it once on my 18' Imperial & my old EZ Loader Roller trailer, but I was able to disassemble it as it was bolted together, this EZ Loader is welded. Sorry, just found posts about this. Thanks

Not sure how large a boat you are dealing with but with my 12' Mirror Craft I hung a chain from my carport, attatched a chain & come-along to the bow, placed jack stands in the back under the transom, then picked up the bow until it came off the trailor. Your milage may very.

You need to block up that Larson? Drop the trailer tongue and put cement blocks under the outside of the transom, at both rear corners. Use two blocks each for the first two courses. Now a single block for the third course and pad with appropriate wood blocks. (2x4, 4x4...) Now jack up trailer tongue. Now jack up bow of boat, until boat is level or bow is slightly elevated. You will then be able to pull trailer out from under boat, until you hit first cross piece. Now move jack to rear of cross piece (two jacks works better). Do not get under boat when it is on jacks. When you have cleared all cross pieces, put cement blocks padded with wood under bow. Always test stability of blocks, when boat still on railer by rocking the boat with your arms. If she is solid, she will not rock.

That is the way to go I did same just used jack stands and wood made cribbing for the bow with carpet folded on it.

Good to see you figured this one out. I have used in the past a few good straps and had access to a stable carport. grabbed a couple of good come-a-longs and winched the boat up and pulled the trailer out, but I see you do not have that, either way, mission accomplished.

Thanks for the pics. So it's OK to support the hull on the outsides and the bow right in the middle??

Gosh, floating it just seems so much simpler for a quick bit of trailer work. I cannot see myself doing this unless
I need to actually work on the hull. Is there anything you can do to the hull while you have it on the stands? Maybe
fix a couple chips on the keel?? Something? ANYTHING??

Yes, boats are real strong at the rear corners and under the keel. if you visit any boaryard, you will see much larger boats that your's blocked up exactly that way.

With that size boat and especially that 1100# chunk of iron and aluminum you call an engine/outdrive, straps and a cumalong are too risky in my opinion.

Re: Removing Boat From Trailer on Land.

I recently used the "tilt" in my Magictilt trailer for the first time and it allowed me to load/unload my little 14' tinny with relative ease in my front yard. I used a large nylon strap with S-hooks on either end and ran it around from either transom handle and around a small tree. I then disconnected the bow strap and safety chain and slowly pulled forward. Once the boat was about 1/3 of the way off the bunks the trailer tilted and eased the boat down on to the ground. I simply reversed the procedure to load the boat, using the trailer winch to pull the boat on to the already tilted bunks, which then leveled out once the boat was about 1/2-2/3 on the trailer.

Like 1956 said use two floor jacks and go slow. When you get close to the cross beam put 2nd jack in front I used folded up carpet on top of the jacks to protect the hull works great. Good luck.....
My boat is 19ft. OMC 4.3 about 2,500 pounds I did pull all the stuff out of boat anchors, ect. before begining.
