kicker mount question

I've got a 1986 bayliner capri 16 foot and I just got a kicker motor mount for it. I was looking at my transom and realized it does not have wood all the way across. Is this an issue for mounting this? Should I cut some wood for stability on the back side of the transom? The swim platform on the other side just bolts right through the transom (no wood part) and seems to hold up fine. What are your suggestions?

Re: kicker mount question

It may have wood between the fiber glass. If you're putting a kicker motor on, I would suggest you use an wood or aluminum backplate to help with the load. It won't take much longer for the install, but it will be much stronger.
