Bell Buoy Boats?

I am interested in Bell Buoy boats. One of my friends said they are constucted really well and did not use wooden stringers. Is this true? Are there any strengths or weakness typical of this hull. They have a lapstrake type of look to the hull. Any information is appreaciated. Thanks
