Hey gang, I'm new to the boating community and I'm looking at a 16' V171 bowrider made by Invader. It has a 2.5 Merc, and I would be towing with a 2017 Caravan with tow package. Can anyone lend helpful input into the quality of boat this is, and thoughts on my towing capability for approx. 2300lbs of dry weight?

Thanks!

Invaders weren't bad boats. They had a couple of models that I really liked. This particular boat is more about condition than anything else. The boat has to be at least 20 years old, so what kind of shape it's in trumps just about everything else.

I don't see why the Caravan can't tow it. As long as your boat ramps aren't too crazy, it should workout. My last Dodge minivan had a towing capacity around 3,000#.

Welcome aboard.

The problem you will have is braking power.

I also tow with a 2016 Grand Caravan.

I was towing 2200# going down a grade in town, 35 mph, crosswalk full of people in front of me.

All I could do is pray they all cleared the road before I got there.

4 hours later I was ordering up brakes for the trailer.

Dodge recommends trailer brakes on anything over 1500# in my owners manual.

You can put a complete set of electric brakes on for about $5-600.
