Good morning to the best minds in boating. I have a 1995 19' bowrider and I am looking to insure it. We have progressive for auto insurance and they have policies available but I wanted to ask for other suggestions or for better companies. I am looking to fully insure the boat against damage. Thank you.

Get liability coverage to protect yourself. Forget about full coverage because a scratch in the gelcoat means a totaled boat since its 25 years old. If you think full coverage is worth it, look for an agreed value policy.

Often times they will want a survey before insuring it.-------Can be added to a home policy to protect it while in your yard or on the trailer.------No coverage when it is floating.------So look around , ask questions and read the fine print when dealing with insurance.

Where are you from? If Canada I can give you the insurance company I deal with. Keep in mind my boat is 5 years old so what GA_Boater said is likely fair but calling will give you a price and what is required, ie a survey.

call progressive. I switched to them in 2010 and when I bought the Rogue, we agreed on a value back in 2011. boat, motor, electronics, gear, etc. for a value of $15k

I also mentioned that I am in the process of restoring/upgrading the boat, so when I splash in a few weeks, they said to call to amend the amount of insured value (pretty sure the rate will go up)

thank you everyone for your input. a progressive full coverage policy is only $260 per year so we'll probably just roll with that. actually had something happen to the boat this past year and they valued me at almost 8k. I was surprised but accepted their valuation. happy boating.
