1994 9.9 yamaha 4 stroke no spark

I just recently purchased a 9.9 yamaha 4 stroke for my boat, Needs a prop and it has no spark, but everything else seems to be in good working order. What woould cause no spark other than stator pulser coil, ignition coil or cdi? The cdi has already been replaced. I was told by the previous owner a marina told him it was the stator, but I dont feel like buying a 300 dollar part if thats not the problem.

Test the system like the service manual lays out to prove what is in spec and what is not.
Yes throwing parts at motors to see if it helps can get expensive, always best to test
