2000 200hp Saltwater series 2 stroke ticking noise

Wasnt sure i heard anything till i removed the engine cover while idling.Stbd side ticking noise.Everything else seems just fine.Pulled plugs and all looked exactly the same.Not too familiar with Yamaha.Anything to look for before I do a compression test? Had this for 2 years not pushing a heavy Grady white walkaround 20ft.Has always done the same 20mph at 3400 rpms.Thanks in advance Charlie

This may not help you much other than maybe making you feel better but it MAY be normal. I had a 1990something Yamaha 175 2 stroke and remember it making a ticking sound too, hopefully it is normal.

mine made a weird vibrating ticking noise, was the trim tilt relay bracket broken off and rattling along the inside case. added some velcro to it and its been quieter since
