There are two different temperature senders listed for the VP 5.7 GSI. This is the sender for the temperature gauge not the temp sensor/switch for the ECM alarm and is mounted on the intake manifold. Listed are 3852029 and 872068. Anyone know what the difference is. The prices are quite different.

Gauge is a variable resister 240 to 33 ohms
ECM is a switch that makes a connection close to 200 or so degrees

On the Volvo Penta Store diagram for the manifolds it has the two different numbers listed against item number 20. The switch sensor for the ECM is shown on the thermostat housing and has a two wire plug in connection. The two items I mentioned (3852029 and 872068) look almost exactly the same and have what looks like a single wire connection with a screw type connector on top side.

The 3852029 is used for dual station setup. as a boat which has a second station on like a fly bridge. You have a single station helm so you would use 872068, or a 240 to 33 ohm

They are both gauge senders. One is for a dual station (different resistance value to drive 2 gauges)

Back to sensors discussion. Where exactly is the intake air temperature sensor on the 5.7 GSIPWTR engine? Do all of the Volvo Pentas equipped with the 5.7 have these?
