Did Volvo use SAME wire harness for multiple motors; extra plugs everywhere???

As I'm tackling the heating up issue, I've found multiple wire harnesses that were either capped and secured intentionally, or dangling free (maybe 4-5). I do know my tach is dead so we could start by me asking where at the engine end the tach plugs in???

Otheriwse, are there any un-used OEM wire harnesses to be expected on a four winns horizon 180 4.3GL-C?

About each each of the GL, VP added more sensors. Which one do you have?

which one? 4.3GL-C Not sure what sensors? I saw a sensor not plugged in on the block which I assume is a knock sensor? I know I have a cooloant temp sensor, oil presser sensor, exhaust temp sensors (pair)...that's I all I know off-hand.

grey wire to the negative terminal on the coil is the tach.

check the big harness connector, sometimes there is corrosion there

you mean big harness connector where? By the coil or is it downstream somewhere else?

This is the GL-C and D VP wiring GL_C,D.jpg

This is GL-E

If we go back to a GL-A then there are less sensors, but most work off the same alarm wire
