Holley 2 Barrel Carb

Had to remove my Carb during the replacement of the manifold, Vovlo Penta 3.0. It's a holley 2 barrel When I removed the carb, Between the carb and the valve cover there was a deteriorated wire that ran from the alternator harness and plugs into the carb, but it was so fragile it simply fell apart.

Is that a ground wire? There was also a newer wire from the carb which went under the mounting screw for grounding purposes, I'm thinking this was put on since the older wire was toast? Or is the other wire something I need to figure out and replace?

I've looked at some schematics and none seem to show any wires. Thanks.

Wat color was the insulation?

Should have a purple wire (ignition) and a black wire (ground) going to the choke

The ground wire is painted over, the purple wire from the coil + goes to the other choke terminal
