input on coleman outboards? from owner of coleman motor

Hi, i am considering the purchase of a 5hp Coleman motor, i have not seen a lot of info in the forums except about who manufactures them. Any owners of these outboards? i would appreciate if someone could discuss there experiences with a Coleman outboard. Thanks!

Colman is probably another chimaness knock off of a japansy design, expect issues and lose bolts and a short life,

But hey, Sears is selling them so I would buy from them for sure if I was going to get one.

There are a few Coleman OB owners who frequent through here from time to time, exactly what did you want to know?

I don't have one, but have asked a couple owners how they like them. Most said it's an OK outboard when you consider the price, but it's not like a purpose built outboard, Merc, Johnson, Evinrude, etc... I was asking them direct questions like, does it vibrate, is it noisy, blah, blah, and the owners talked me out of buying one, even if they didn't know it.

That probably wasn't the answer you were looking for, but....
