Hey guys got a question hopefully someone can help me out with. Just picked up an old 14' Crestliner v-hull yesterday and its got a Wizard 7hp on the back, going to try and fix it up to make a nice little cheap fishing/duck boat. Anyways, I can't find a serial number on it anywhere so I'm hoping maybe you guys can help me identify it. I've tried to do my homework before posting this up but theres just not a whole lot of info on these guys out there. By what Ive gathered its a 2cycle made by Eska between 1969 and 1974 but thats about it. The guy I bought it from said it hasnt been used in over 3 years but didnt think it would take much to get it back going...sorry for the picture quality they came off my phone.

Welcome to Iboats,
Its for sure a Tecumseh, and due to the fact that I can see a pulse transformer hanging there, it's has Solid State ignition...oh lucky you:) just make sure you don't crank the engine with the plug out!! and ungrounded or you could do damage to the ssi, I will bet that the water pump is the 9.8 7/16ID merc and the spark plug will be a rj14yc or no.86 autolight, carb kit will be available on ebay, and www.certifiedpartscorp.com same with the water pump, chance's are you will need both but first you need to test the spark with a spark tester or grounded plug to see if its worth putting money into.

there is a small tag near the carb on the otherside of the motor with a no. on it with the model of the motor

and I would guess a 76 or up year model...looks just like a ted williams Twist grip. does it have forward and neutral or f-n-r

Re: Help me identify this Eska/Wizard 7hp

Hey thanks for the quick reply! I was in the process of tearing the motor down today and checking everything out and think I came across that tag you were talking about. It has 640-03B on it as well as one other number which doin a little research led me to believe it was a '73 model also it has TG listed after the horsepower rating (7tg) what does this mean? I've been reading mixed things on these old Wizard motors, so Im kinda of on the edge of whether or not to even fix this one up (bought the boat/trailer and the guy basically gave me this motor for free with it, so I just thought it would be nice to fix it up for not to much and basically have a "free" outboard for it). Anyways sorry for such a long winded post, this is my first boat and I am pretty excited about it but at the same time have a ton of questions about fixing it up :)

thats the engine model, you may find a cross refrence here under some of the eska no."s http://home.earthlink.net/~brixent/index.html

your may be right about the 73 model, tg is twist grip, if it has spark it's worth a little effort, no spark hang it on the wall or send it COD to CATansplant:D there not the best outboard in the world but there nice to have as a spare and use very little fuel...great for trolling...if you decide to tear into it use the search function here at Iboats theres tons of info going back a few years...
