Outboard Motor Stand?

I would like to build a out board motor stand for a 7.5 HP Eska motor. I can build this out of wood or metal. Any info or pics would be nice.<br /><br />Thanks,<br />Nathan

Thanks, Any one got any thing else.... I'd like to be able to put 1/2 a 50 gal. drum under it to test the motor to.... any one know of any thing like this?

I used a hand truck (dolly) with a 30 gallon drum strapped to it. Portable, and great for small outboards. I plan to add a drain valve to the bottom of the drum so it's easier to change out the water.

Here is a pic of my stand. I built it to hold large outboards, but it is doing just fine with my little outboards too. Its 2x4s screwed together, nothing fancy, and it is on castors so I can roll it around. I can set a trash can in there for testing purposes. It held my 125 horse Merc, an 85 horse Merc, a Homelite 55, and these little guys as well. Cost was minimal.<br /><br />

I just drew this folding stand up tonight and may start building it tomorrow. I might consider adding braces if it doesn't feel stiff enough.<br />

looks like a decient design for smaller outboards however i would sugest 1 upgrade.instead of using nails or scrws at the hinge location i would use a length of allthread.and put washers between the wood.i think it would last a but longer and work a little easier after all the water makes this area swell up. just a thought.

I thought I'd leave the hardware details to your imagination. For the hinge I'm using 1/4-20 bolts and (nylon) locknuts with fender washers on either side, and the largest fender washer I could find is between the wood. All the rest are carriage bolts. I'll also be treating it with Thompsons Waterseal, knowing that it will get wet.
