We have an omc 4.3 that will crank and crank but won’t fire anymore. It also has plenty of clean gas, strong spark, and compression. The coil, plugs, fuel pump, distributor cap have recently been replaced and it has a electronic ingition it now but even the points aren’t working. The carburetor was also recently rebuild so there wouldn’t be any problems there. Makes no sense why it shouldn’t start any ideas?

did you check timing?

points would have glazed over from sitting and simply needed light filing and adjustment.

did you pull the distributor, if so, do you have it on TDC on cylinder #1?

We will check that next but right before we replaced the coil the boat would start then stall if that has anything to do with timing or anything

When did all this start happening? Right after the points were changed out to electronic? Was it a kit, or did you change the distributor. Need a timeline!

At first the boat didn’t start at all because of a fuel problem we replaced all the fuel lines, tank, filters, cleaned carburetor. After all that it still wouldn’t start because of a spark issue from there the distributor cap was replaced, points converted to eletronic. Then the boat ran fine and started fine with the electronic ignition still in. Then a stalling issue of the engine came out of nowhere. To fix that problem but when we changed the coil, rotor and plugs that are gapped right. After this we had the issue that it wouldn’t even start. We checked fuel, filters, compression, and spark and it still didn’t start. But today we did see that we were getting a whitish/yellow spark from the coil instead of a blue spark will look into the coil problem.
