Motor idle problem

I recently purchased a Caravelle'96 209 with a 5.8L. Love the boat but encountered an odd problem on the initial cruise. Engine was running fine at idle speed with no problems shifting into gear UNTIL I went WOT. Since then engines runs very fast at idle and is very difficult getting into & especially out of gear. Makes trailoring a royal pain. Any initial thoughts?

Hi Burns,<br />Your throtle cable maybe not be adjusted right or you have a va***e leak.<br />I think the idle speed in geaar is 600+or-50<br />rpm.Don't quote me on that.<br />...have fun...corm
