To close this, I have to say I'm impressed with this little tach..
For a cheapo, it did what it had to, and is still working!

With the weather warming up a touch, I put the muffs on and started her up.. Tach still working..
Unfortunately, due to other issues, the boat this Johnson 50hp is on has been retired now...

All in all, if you need a tach for the engine side, and aren't looking to spend a ton, then I'd recommend this one.
It worked well for me in this case..

Sorry for the delayed update!

I'm a big fan of Harline hour/tachs meters, have installed many on new 1-2 / 2 strokes OB's. Must say all OB's came factory revving bit high, had to re adjust idle rpm on all of them to specs. On 2 strokes OB's while at idle rpm tach reads bit erratic as much as +,- 50/100 rpm, display reading stabilizes when opening up the throttle being very accurate at wot. 4 strokes OB's reads more accurate when at idle rpm.

Just wrap pick up cable 4 tight turns on any spark plug cable, cut wire excess after has been conveniently routed. Overall is an excellent cheap meter to count with.

Happy Boating
