Hi, I removed my 1998 mercury 35hp 3 ram tilt/trim unit to repair a leak in the (middle) larger tilt ram. I repaired the leak but now the 2 trim rams will not retract. After a week of bleeding and discussing this problem I decided to remove the housing of the tilt ram again to see if I assemble anything wrong. From my troubleshooting manual it mentions to check the "tilt piston ball is not seated, displaced, dirt,etc..... I found that I have 7 piston balls that rest under springs. One ball was directly under the spring and 6 were to the side.....does anyone know the correct position??? I assume they should all be in the same position???????

Hi, I determined that they all should be directly under the springs, not to the side.....after bleeding the system everything works great!!!!!:)
