Re: Quick silver racing lower unit
The only motor that came with a Quicksilver lower unit that would fit your motor is the Mercury Mark 55H. Made from 1956 to about 1960 (depending on who you talk to), with 1956-1958 being the production years. 1959-1960 models that may have been built were low production and considered to be quite rare, more of a 'back-door' motor.
Those lower units are quite scarce and getting very pricey. The gearcases themselves were re-introduced much later on the Mercury 44XS. Similar guts and housing, using a different driveshaft. Mid-section was completely different.
