need to find year of Mercury 700 3 cylinder made in belgium

This is my first ever posting and I need some serious help in findind out the year of my newly aquired Mercury 700. The motor was manufactured in Belgium and the s/n is 9306974 it has the clam shell engine covers but has no decals as the motor has been repainted. I have been searching for ages and all I have done is draw a blank. <br /> Many thanks valmet

Not an easy one.<br /><br />700's were made in '77 and 78' only, as far as my archive shows.<br /><br />Manuals comes for ranges of models so you can fairly easy pick one from this site

Are you sure it's a 700 ?<br />If it has no decal, could be a 1980-81 70 !!<br />If you refer here for the line up of USA no's <br /> http://www.dougrussell.com/partscatalog/images/MERMAR/74962/43.gif <br />Check serial grp 10 9206325=5193258 so yours is a higher no and if you look here.<br /> http://www.marineparts.com/partspages/techhelp/images/TECH158.gif <br />512**** = 1979
