I'm restoring my 9.8 Merc and almost ready to test run it, however I can't find a female fuel connector for my gas tank that will match up to the old 32454 fuel line adapter that's in the lower cowl. I may have to change it out with a newer one that will match up to a female connector. Mercury says there there is no replacement for this. Anyone know where I can get a male fuel adapter that will install properly in this engine and the female fuel connector that will work with it for the gas tank fuel line? Any info will be greatly appreciated!

Is this is what your looking for? I don't know if you can find a genuine mercury fitting but there are aftermarket ones available.

They used a much smaller twist lock fuel connector before 1971 on Mercury 3.9-9.8 hp engines. As far as I know there isn't an aftermarket supplier who makes the smaller twist lock fitting. The larger more common fitting that everyone offers won't work. The part number you need is 30635T3 or 30635Q3 The T is for Mercury packaging the Q is for quicksilver packaging.
Looks just like the fitting hardwater fisherman posted but it's at least 1 inch shorter.

Okay My later mercury 40 hp uses them. I didn't know there was different sizes.

Thx Hardwater Fisherman! So the 30635T3 or Q3 will fit the smaller twist lock fuel connector from 1971?

Correct if you have the small 32454 fuel adapter 30635T3 plugs onto that.

I think you would save some coins with changing to simple Johnson / Evinrude fittings.
