No spark, shift interrupter switch?

Hey guys, I am new and would really appreciate some help. I have a 91 Regal with a 5.7/Aplha with a Thunderbolt V ignition. Boat will crank, but not start. Did all the tests as described in the manual with same results, no spark. All these lead to the module that is probably no longer available. As a last resort I pulled the roller back on the shift interrupter, depressing the micro switch and the motor started. There is nothing in my Clymers manual on adjustment of the switch or what the resistance should be. Could this be a matter of needing to adjust the shift cables or what?
