I just want to relate an problem/solution with a 1979 Glastron CVX SS with 140 mercruiser 3.0L engine.

Symptoms: Low power, bogging down, hard to start, running rough, low RPM at WOT.
Checked spark plugs, cleaned carb, checked timming, checked cap/rotor... No change.

Got a compression tester and found:
1: 115psi
2: 33 psi
3: 33 psi
4: 114 psi

Searched I boats and found a thread about blown head gasket.
Pulled the boat, removed the top end and found that my head gasket had broken between cylinders 2 & 3.
Replaced head gasket.
Adjusted valves.
Engine runs great!

Total cost $25 for head gasket and copper spray.
Total time: about 6:00 hours (my first time, with much help).

Just wanted to pass this along if you are running into something similar.

One other note: I have owned the boat for 8 years and use it for a lot of skiing/tubing. When we looked at the block, it was obvious that it had work done before and they had repaired a crack between cylinders 2 & 3 (welded the crack).
The welder must have done a pretty good job for it held up for at least 8 years, and hopefully it will hold for another 8.

See you on the water.
