Ok i just bought a 1986 thompson deep V with the MCM 170. Was having some fuel delivery problems along with that ticking/ knocking noise. After fixing the fuel delivery i am at a loss on trying to narrow down the noise. It sounds like the old ford rangers that has the tick from lifters but i have checked them and they appear to be ok. I have had several people suggest things like the rod, a rist pin, lifters valves, fly wheel, bell housing all sorts of things.
I have done a compression test and all were preety good all 4 cylinders were pretty close to 100. There isnt any metall shavings in the oil which makes me question it being something in the lower end. So has anyone had any issues like this or any suggestions please let me know. Thanks in advance for any and all help every one provides. Also i am trying to find a cross refrence on parts if any one has any suggestions.
