dwell is 32 +-1 on a V8. Timing is different with everyone but 6 to 8 deg BTDC at idle will be a good place to set it.

Point Gap/Dwell,timing, old 454/330- Please
Thanks,

You asked a vague question, and got a vague answer. Info like Make, model, year, SN, all that stuff gets you the right answer for your engine.

Point gap is .016 - .019. Dwell angle is 26 - 31 degrees. Timing is 8 degrees at idle. Point gap and dwell angle are actually doing the same thing, setting the points.Set with feeler gauge first then check and fine tune with dwell meter if available.Feeler gauge alone is fine the important part is setting the timing. You must set points first then set timing.Changing the point gap changes your timing.Changing the timing doesn't change you point gap.Plugs fire when the points break apart so if you change your points setting after you have set your timing your changing your timing.

How ya been Larry, aint heard from ya for a while!!

exactly what i said. I always set on the high side of dwell so you wear through the range. Guess the old memory into bad. its been better than 10 years since i played with points.
