I have a 1995 27' Rinker w/ twin 5.0 mercruisers and one engine is overheating. Both motors have new mainfolds, risers, water pumps(circulating and drive) and thermostats. Yesterday I again replaced the lower unit pump and housing and checked and replaced the connectors to the water tube. Before re-assembly water passages were flushed with a hose and had good flow. I also pressurized the incoming line from the boat to the water tube that the drive water pump attaches to and no leaks. Still hitting over 200* and verified with infared thermometer.
I'm wondering if water could be by passing inside thermostat housing? Niether engine has the little ball checks on the outlet to the risers. Should I try new housing or install the ball checks? Also props and ignition timing and compression have been checked.
Running out of things to check and try.
