454 missfire engine when having water at the dock

i would like to know could be the problem when i start my engine on the trailer all goes well my when i leave the boat 1-2 hours or all night it's hard to leave and the engine is doing big backfire and as soon as i give it gas it stuffs my I barely succeeded and misere out of the water after a good 10 minutes of hammering thanks you

not sure which generation 454 you have since you didnt share important things like that

going to assume you have a carb. if so, I suggest you look at the carb, tear it down and go thru it.
