Saw an old post here describing the exact same problem that I am experiencing now (from 2002), concerning the manual tilt on a Johnson outboard.
Outboard is locked in the down position, and seems that the lever that allows to tilt the engine is not doing what it is supposed to.
Cable is moving, but seems that there is not enough movement on the cable to unlatch whatever its supposed to unlatch.
Sprayed with lubricant a number of times around the bare part of the wire, but still will not move as it should.
Need to get this motor up to fix the engine.
Any suggestions... Anyone?
