can I synchonize my timing using a trashcan instead of a tank on a 140 hp?

I wasn't sure if it would be big enough to provide sufficient back pressure to adjust the timing and throttle, currently the idle screw is all the way screwed in and I want to adjust everything to get it running smooth again...right now with the idle screw all the way down I'm at around 550-650 rpms needle jumps alot, with muffs on I'm close to 1400, wondering if a trashcan will work for a test tank on this size motor. See this thread for more details on the issue.

Thx guys, but too late....tried it this weekend...ran great in the 95 gal trash can, ran like $h*% after putting her in the lake. One thing I have noticed is she runs worse after I've been driving her a while....maybe cuz she old? Prolly get a heat gun to check cylinder temps to make sure one is getting hotter than the others.
Put it in the water.
