Tried seafoam before this, and had limited success. Not sure about overheating because I got it like this from my uncle and didn't want to damage it further. That cylinder has grooves you can actually feel, so again I'm no expert but I fear that means it might be beyond honing, and on to boring out since it's into the sleeve. Sounds like you all agree. Also there was quite a bit of wobble and I wonder if the piston skirt is broken. Might explain the nicked edges on the right side of the piston. If I'm tearing it all the way down, I guess I should get 5 sets of regular rings, and then some .30 over rings and a .30 over piston. Should I go OEM on all the parts?
Looking on boats.net it is pushing $400 for the job. Does that sound about right? Anywhere cheaper to order from?
