    1978 John 70 HP
    Model: 70EL78C
    Serial: J4934075

Do anyone know how to test the power pack on this motor

I am having the same problem with my 1978 Johnson 70 HP.. When I disconnect the #2 plug wire while running the motor there is no change in the sound of the motor. No sputtering, no stalling. Do anyone know how to test the powerpack on that motor..

I put new carb kits in and no change

    Re: Power Pack Testing

you have no spark on one cylinder, try swapping coils with one that is good, if the problem follows the coil replace it. probably not power pack.

    find your motor here. http://www.******************/page28.asp
