Trying to sync the carb and when using a stiff piece of wire on clips there's a bit of downward pressure on throttle shaft before it actually starts to open... is that normal and be taken into account??? Another thing some say it should start to open dead center of the two marks and manual says just as passes second mark?? I think I get it set and then check and it's not opening up til a bit past with the downward movement before it starts opening as I can see the pin move. Thanks in advance

When it starts to open after all slack is removed is what counts. Actually, it is difficult to get those darn things perfect. I personally don't think splitting hairs is necessary.

If the carb butterfly just starts to open when the follower is between the two marks on the cam, you should be good.
