my 1988 Nissan 18HP NS18C2 has the ability to have a remote control setup with electric start capabilities. right now mine is a tiller model. I don't want to have remote controls. electric start would be nice but not a necessity. i just want the ability to charge my battery's so i don't have to lug it back and forth. its a standard 12 volt dual purpose battery (starting and deep cycle).
I believe all i need is a rectifier and battery cables according to the parts book.
am i correct? do i need anything else?
I included a pic of the wiring diagram.

Cool,
Now can I get some info on the rectifier?
I need to know...
1. Is it a single phase?
2. Output amperage?

Thanks in advanced

Re: battery charging on 18hp

Besides charging a battery you could use fully rectified 12-14 volts to power other gadgets, so must be full phase, probably just up to 4 amps ?

The DC side does not have any phase associated with it. The AC side is single-wire single phace. Output is 80 watts at WOT. It is a 4-diode bridge rectifier. The wiring diagram is in your owner's manual.
