I have a 1987 force 125 that the original black cdi boxes died on, I have two brand new blues ones, will they work?

The 87 came from the factory with the blue packs.
They updated them to the black sometime after 89 (?)
To use the blue you'll need to have the blue coils.
The connectors are different on the lead to the coils.

They say don't mix the black and blue.
I have and never had a problem, just change the connector ends or use a butt connector(probably a better idea)

You say BOTH black boxes died??
That doesn't usually happen.
outboardignitiondotcom has test procedures for your motor.

The black might have the CDI letters on them somewhere?
This might mean the stator has been changed too.
The test results for CDI products(stator) is different from OEM.

only one of the black ones died. one of them still works as I got spark on the bottom two cylinders. I have two blue that work, should I use both of them or one black and one blue? do I need four blue coils then as well? thanks for the help.

I don't believe anything has been changed as far as stator or anything. I mat be wrong on the year. I bought the 125 and the guy said one cdi was bad. I have a early 80's 85 that has the blue cdi boxes and coils. will these parts work on the 125?

Yes you'd need 4 blue coils unless you change the connectors.
Yes you can use just 1 blue and 1 black, just change the connectors.

If you have black then someone changed them.
I worked at a Force dealer from 86-92
Every 50 85 90 120 125 150 came through with blue parts.

The early 80's will work but they usually have the plug in connectors on the packs(crappy setup)
You can use them but the ends need different connectors.
