I currently have a 45hp outboard that ended up loosing a tooth on the Dog gear? And I was wondering if a 35hp bottom end would fit/ pump enough water for the 45?

Bradler if the 35Hp is earlier then 1976 it will fit right on.
Chrysler manufactured a 35, 45 and 55Hp engine family from mid 60.s until 1975-76.
The different was block displacement and ignition/electric start system.
The LU was the same for all of them with the same gear ratio.

In 1976 there was a "new" 35Hp which was developed from the 25, 30Hp family and in 1977 a "new" 55Hp twin carb engine developed from the 60Hp twin carb intruduced in 1974.
This LU.s will not fit.

Soo you can look for a LU from a 35, 45 or 55Hp Chrysler from 1966 up until 1975 (35 and 55Hp. The 45Hp was the same until Chrysler was out of the OB business in 1984).

LU from a 50Hp Force will also fit.

You take it apart?
Sometimes the dog can be ground down to be used again.

Post a pic?
