Just bought it with no title. I cannot find the serial # anywhere on the transom mounting hinge . Looked on both sides and on top. Also no indication even where one could have been. I have read about numbers being on the freeze plug or stater bracket but cannot find it. Attached is picture of the sticker on top of engine.

Welcome to iboats.

Look everywhere on the block, starter, head, for a white paper label, 3/4" by 3".

If its not there, and no sticker on the transom bracket, you are probably out of luck.

How did you determine its a 1998 model?

Do you need the serial number?

Serial numbers for 1998 models ranged from OE288000 through OE 344999

The sticker is an emissions sticker, nothing to do with the year or model#
Luckily it has the year.

Did you buy the motor as part of a package ?
If so contact the boat manufacturer and send in the transom # and they can tell you what motor came on the boat.
The 98 only had 3 model changes and most of the changes were small things. The 3rd change was the extended 25" shaft.
So just about any parts you'll need to get will be the same on all 3 models.

There might ???? be a silver plug somewhere on the block, maybe under the coils or power pack??
Looks like a small freeze plug.
It will have the model # on the plug????
