For those so inclined . . . mounted my vintage 70's square shaft helm wheel to my brand new Uflex Rotary Planetary Steering System today. The pics will tell the tale but basically potting the square void with lead free solder. Not rocket science but it seems to work. Why bother? . . . you may ask . . . because my helm kit didn't come with a wheel and I had it on hand.

Nice work cosmetically...but will it hold? Solder is pretty soft. If it breaks try Marine Tex, although I am not sure that is a lot stronger.

If that fails, cut a piece of heavy steel into a square and drill it for the steering shaft. File a new keyway. Alternatively, a large steel square nut (farm equipment?) might also fit the square
