If it wasn't for the auto pilot it might be an easier decision

Ayuh,......Actually, while I have the auto-pilot pump for the hyd. system, I'm lackin' some of the other bits needed,......

'n the ole tinbarge I'm about to scrap, has the complete, with all the extra sensors, Raymarine Sport Pilot II system in it, for the cable system,.....
It's only draw-backs are the extra steerin' effort because of the auto-pilot clutch, which is pretty close to the effort necessary with this hyd. system,.....
'n it just couldn't keep up with the demands of the flatish bottom tinbarge gettin' blown off course in the wind, unless runnin' downwind,....

Hmmmm,.... I think I've just about talked myself into sellin' this set-up, 'n goin' with the cable system,......

get a bigger slave cylinder. that will require more turns lock to lock and have less effort

or go with a smaller helm unit (same outcome)

Ayuh,.... I'm at an either, or point,.....

ain't spendin' more money on more parts,....

At this point, the cable helm is gonna be the choice,.....
I've got Everything to do that,....
