Sphelps - I'm got the same kind of clamps that GA posted about with the pictures. I figured they'd be better if I have to adjust anything. I'll try to find where I got the springs, to be honest, I cant remember! I've purchased so many parts from different places that I just can't remember. I can tell you I went with the SeaDog galvanized steel tiller rope springs, normal length 5.75"/compressed length 7.75" length: Part # 091815-1. My clamps are Seachoice brand for 1/8 & 3/16" tiller rope, part # 28601. Both came in a pack of 2.
GA - thank's a bunch for the tips with the ratchet straps. I didn't think about it, but I can see where that may be an issue! I also purchased a couple small turn buckles for some fine adjustment. Not sure if that's normal, but in my head it seems like it would be a good idea....
