leak on trim tilt unit

I have the trim tilt unit in the attached picture. The boat is a 1980. The unit leaks from the bottom wether the drive is in the raised or lowered position.

I snugged up all the bolts from the underside of the unit and checked and everything is tight.

It looks to me like there is probably some type of gasket or o-ring at the bottom to seal this thing up that needs to be replaced.

Am I on the right path, or are these complete swap out units.

that appears to be a compression fitting. I'll double check it tomorrow.

Fluid leak, There 4 smal,”O” rings sealing the lower valve body to the pump housing. When you remove the body be sure to check the mating surface with a straight edge. It will be slightly distorted. Put some varying grits of sand paper on a good flat surface to mill it flat. The “O”rings are generic and can be matched up at a parts store. Use grease to hold the “O” rings in place and re-assemble.
