having sold thousands of these I would suggest that the signal wire is kept away from other plugs (use the lower plug) and not loomed with other wires .. ie if harness is on starboard put the wire up the port side . Increase the number of turn on the lead if neccessary.
but if you are happy I am happy .

I purchased a Tiny Tach "clone" that had some configuration adjustment. I am able to test all my outboards and use it to verify the I/O tach. A great tool.
