rule bilge blowing fuses.

Got a rule pump 500gpm at 2.5 amps.
trying to wire up. and keeps blowing 2.5 amp fuse.

wiring it into a 3 switch pannel on the boat with 1 red, 4 blacks leads.
switchs: lights, blige, sounder.

if I wire it direct(bypass switch) it pumps fine, use the switch it blows the fuse(2.5amps).

Any Ideas?

Use a 5 amp fuse, just like Rule says.

The fuse is to stop extreme overloads. It has to be strong enough to stand the starting surge of the motor, always more than the running current.

Turn the impeller by hand if possible.
Friends' pump stopped working. Checked fuses, kept popping them. Pulled pump, tried to turn impeller & felt it stuck, then break free from dirt/crud that hardened over the winter.
Quick wash, new fuses, problem solved..
Hope your problem is just as simple..

tried the 5amp fuse it dont blow but the pump still will not run, I tried to wire it to all three switches and I fined it hard to believe all of them are broke.

Direct the pump is running around 2 amp, OK

I dont Know what to do except try a stand alone toggle.

Sounds like you may have a ground incorrectly connected on your switch. There should normally not be a ground on any terminal of your switch unless its a lighted switch.

Edit: I see you are not blowing your fuse so ignore my comment above. Have a way to draw out how you wired it to the switch? What type of switch are you wiring it to SPST SPDT...
