So, a few questions.
Did you just get this motor? Is this a new problem, did the motor ever run properly for you?
Several different ignition systems were used over the years.
Gonna need the motor model number if older than 1990,
Gonna need the motor SERIAL number if newer than 1990.
A few things to start with:
make sure the safety kill switch is in the "run" position.
Inspect all wiring on the motor, and behind the ignition switch, looking
for loose, frayed, broken insulation, or disconnected wires.
