HELP 79 Johnson 35

I recently purchased a 1979 one owner Johnson outboard...it has manual pull start and I want to put electric start on it I'm mechanically inclined can do most if not all the maintenance myself so where could I find the starter and would I have to change out the flywheel I kinda want to keep the manual start as well the model number is 35R79A thanks any help is appreciated

A donor motor for parts is your best bet.------Availability varies with your location.-----Your location ?

Would it have to be another 79 model motor or could I use a different year model for parts I would like to keep the manual start as a back up

Starter from 1976 to 2005 likely fits.----20 / 25 / 30 / 35 HP models.

Look at your flywheel. If it has starter teeth on it there is no need to change it.
