UK sailors captured at gunpoint

Fifteen British Navy personnel have been captured at gunpoint by Iranian forces, the Ministry of Defence says.

Just what we need to make thinks more tense :devil::devil:

I really doubt that the UK will let this go.

There will be more heard about it.

Oh sure, you'll hear plenty about. They'll bluster and posture. Go to the UN. Issue a statement. And then make a concession to get the boys back.

What else are they going to do? Strike Iran?

I think they should have open, 1 on 1 talks with Iran. You know, open dialogue. Find out why they are angry or upset and see what you can do to make them feel better.

Didn't we kick them out? :$ Based on that logic, they'll lose again....

The British don't have the troops in the area to do anything about it. And the British government is about as weak willed as the US government is right now. Nothing is going to happen but a lot of press releases.

Is not kidnapping sailors an act of war? I would think the British are at war already whether anybody admits it or not.

I would say that they still have a LOT of well trained troops that can be in and out in the dark and do a HELL OF A LOT OF DAMMAGE and be gone with no trace

The Brits have stood beside us many, many times. I for one am gratful for them. And I am sure we not let them stand alone in this.

I think you must be mixing the Brits up with the French! Remember the Falklands.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Pueblo_(AGER-2)

<<Following a written admission by the US that Pueblo had been spying, an apology and an assurance that the US would not spy in the future, the North Korean government decided to release the 82 remaining crew members. On 23 December 1968 the crew was taken by buses to the DMZ border with South Korea and ordered to walk south across the "Bridge of No Return". Exactly 11 months after being taken prisoner, the Captain led the long line of crewmen, followed at the end by the Executive Officer, Lieutenant Ed Murphy, the last man across the bridge. The US then verbally retracted the ransom admission, apology, and assurance.>>
