Ranger, I DO NOT endorse this nor do I recommend it but I too once had your dilemma, sooooo I tied the lower unit to an oak tree and jerked with the truck for several tries and it did finally come loose with a giant snap. I had 10 feet of 1/2 rope between the lower and the tree and when she broke loose the lower unit was 10 feet behind the tree, yes a lower unit can fly despite the weight. If frustration/ destruction gets the best of you please be safe.
