I am restoring an old pontoon boat....the motor is a 78 model 70hp johnson...it currently has a 17 pitch prop, I have ordered and 11 pitch prop from a Solas dealer...my question is do I have to replace hub assemly, as the one that is on the boat appears in excellent condition?

Solas makes replaceable and non replaceable hubs. In general, hubs are only replaceable between the same brands/models. Some kits you buy do require you to use the original thrust washer, etc. Even if you have a hub match, I would just install the new one with the new prop. Keep the existing prop/hub for emergency spare, until you get another with the lower pitch you need.
