Hi Guys NooB here from Blighty
i'm having a bit of a problem starting my outboard, i've read thru the top secret file, and checked more or less everything.
i'm begining to strip it down and rebuild it anyway, as it's an old one
Model No. is FDL 21R, besides that i cannot find any other info on it.
The storey so Far : - ( i might ramble on a bit)
The guy i bought it off, said it was a runner, but when i got there he'd conveniently snapped the pull chord, ok i said no
worries, that can be fixed, got it home, the re-coil spring was rotted and snapped, and the pullchord was a piece of rope.
replaced spring with a a genuine Evinrude one, and replaced chord with nylon rope. Great i thought now to try it, so
popped it in a bucket, pulled it, nothing. Ended up breaking chord, and renewing it twice thereafter.
I stripped the carb, and found the float valve needle to be stuck, so i used carb cleaner to clean it all out.
the next thing i found was the Cylinder Head needed to be helicoiled, as the spark plug thread was completely stripped
bare.
he'd even removed one of the spark plug washers so it would bite on the very last thread
