Static means when you do the timing using only cranking speed meaning engine is not running. Dynamic means when the engine is actually running at WOT obviously only when boat is in the water. Of course, this is just my personal understanding based on the maintenance manual.

Great pics!!! They look something like a Black Drum, that we catch here.
Looks like they might be good to eat? Or you wouldn't have kept that many.

Black Drum look epic!! We greta fun to get !!

Australasian snapper - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Solid fish, the one in the middle was just under 12kg, local record is around 14kg.
Its very nice eating fish, white and firm, chicken of the sea in regards to its versatility.
These ones where caught in 33m of water so after a battle from these depth on light tackle survival rates are low. They dont go to waste I assure you!!

We got these locally aswell just after New years:

Only small at 20kg but great fun in our own trailer boats. We get them to 80-100kg locally.

I live in a southern part of australia where the water is much colder in relation to say NSW, QLD or the NT. Thats where the real big Pelagics visit

Looks good,I'd go for a 40# tuna any day.
The sharks are migrating this time of the year.
Were going out today depending on the wind.
Hopefully we'll catch us one or 2?

one more question on this thread
we must remove the propeller or not

Using this method, after removing the sparkplug re-attach the wire to them.

When you remove the sparkplugs, if you do not somehow attach them to the block, they will not spark and a feedback can go into the ignition damaging the CD boxes when you crank the engine..

The body of the sparkplug is grounded when screwed into the plug hole. To ground plugs not screwed into their holes either buy or make a spark tester.

You can simply wind a length of bare copper wire around each plug then stick the free end in the plug hole.

You CAN check timing with the boat running at full throttle (with someone else driving it) BUT it is more dangerous. You will be sitting at the back of the boat near the spinning flywheel and the boat may bounce. Additionally if it is sunny, it will be difficult to see the timing marks.

NO.... Just don't get near it when your turning it over.
Sorry the post kinda went to the fish.
No don't remove the prop.Just stay clear.
Make sure you ground out the plugs.Make up a wire like I showed you.
Then remove the plugs and hook up the leads.
Then throttle all the way forward. The linkage, MUST BE FULLLLLY ADVANCED!!!!
Timing light hooked up to top plug wire.
Key on. Jump box or a remote starter.
Point light at the timing mark.(I use a screwdriver and make the hash marks longer/bigger)
Turn motor over see where light/strobe hits.
Should be the middle hash mark.

When adjusting,be very careful you don't break the plastic connectors.
Dynamic timing is dangerous and shouldn't be tried unless you feel you can handle it.
It's been about 20 years since I did it on someones boat.

I want to time my 87 force 125 . Need some help...
the single line is TDC check this by pulling the #1 plug. So that is done.

Are there only 3 other lines to the left, that would be a before tdc?

At idle running around 1200 rpm with my timing light set 30 adv shouldn't I see tdc.

I dont see any lines with the light

The motor idles ok I guess but you have to dump hard into gear or it stalls. Doesn't seem right and sucks when docking

I've already ran through the carbs think they are all set.

Not really sure what was done before me.

Last time out it would bog down atdat all speeds after about 30 to 40 sec.

Figured that wad because fuel filter gas bulb or lines changed everything just to clear that off my list.

FYI, I work on cars but this is my first bost engine

Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated.
